Gardner Statement on NISP Rally

FORT LUPTON,C O. -  Congressman Cory Gardner (R-CO) released the following statement on the importance of the Northern Integrated Supply Project (NISP) in light of today’s rally supporting its construction:

“Last year and early this year, we watched as thousands of gallons of water flowed down the Platte and right out of our state.  This year, we are experiencing one of the worst droughts and fire seasons in Colorado’s history.  The unpredictable nature of snowpack and rainfall underscores the need for more water storage in good years, so we are better prepared for the bad ones.  NISP would provide the water storage we need to support northern Colorado’s growing communities and provide protection to economies and families when the weather turns dry."

NISP is a $400 million project being financed by 15 small towns and water districts in northern Colorado.  The project would build a storage reservoir to supplement the water supply of northern Colorado’s growing communities.

Congressman Gardner is a member in the U.S. House of Representatives serving Colorado's 4th Congressional District. He sits on the Energy and Commerce Committee and is a member of the following Subcommittees: Communications and Technology, Energy and Power, and Oversight and Investigations.
